We like to think of the marketplace as a neutral space, a simple exchange of goods, services, and value. But if you look closely, especially here in Kenya, you’ll see it’s anything but neutral. It is a spiritual battlefield.
Did you know that demonic powers are actively at work in business? It sounds intense, but the evidence is all around us. From the looting of public coffers in scandals like SHA to the exploitation of bodaboda riders by predatory loan apps, the signs of a spiritual war are undeniable. The enemy is not just trying to disrupt your profit margins; he is trying to corrupt, enslave, and divert resources away from God’s purposes.
The Ancient Blueprint of Corruption
The prophet Ezekiel gives us a revelation that is critical for every entrepreneur and business leader today. He describes the fall of Lucifer, a being of immense beauty, wisdom, and wealth. What led to his downfall? It was his activity in trade: “By the abundance of your trading, you became filled with violence within, and you sinned” (Ezekiel 28:16).
Satan’s strategy hasn’t changed. He has a grip on the marketplace because he knows that whoever controls the wealth controls the direction of a nation. In Kenya, this manifests in the “Babylonian System” a corrupt global network described in Revelation 17 & 18 that trades in everything, even the “bodies and souls of men” (Revelation 18:13).
We see Babylon alive and well when:
- Land grabbing displaces entire communities for private gain.
- Education is sold to the highest bidder, leaving the poor behind.
- Our youth are trafficked abroad with lies of a better life, only to be sold into slavery and death, as we’ve seen with young men being recruited into foreign armies.
God’s command is clear: “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins” (Revelation 18:4).
The Rise of the Warring Craftsmen
But here is the good news. In Zechariah’s vision, he saw four horns, representing the spiritual forces scattering God’s people. But God didn’t just leave them defenseless. He raised up four craftsmen to cast those horns out (Zechariah 1:18-21).
These craftsmen are you. They are the entrepreneurs, the innovators, and the ethical leaders who refuse to bow to the idols of corruption and greed. They are the whistle-blowers who risk everything to expose the truth. They are the business owners who refuse to pay a bribe, even if it means losing a contract. They are the ones creating jobs and empowering communities, not just extracting wealth.
This is your calling. If you are in business, you are not just a salesperson or a manager. You are a warring craftsman, anointed to dismantle demonic strongholds.
How to Stand and Fight
You cannot fight this battle with carnal weapons. This is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. To stand firm, you need:
- Spiritual Fortification: You cannot step into a war zone unarmed. You need prayer, the Word, and discernment.
- Mentorship & Covering: You need a community of like-minded warriors who will stand with you and sharpen you.
- The Right Tools: You must be equipped to recognize the enemy’s tactics, the greed, the shortcuts, the fear and wield the weapons of righteousness, integrity, and faith.
The marketplace is waiting for those who will rise up, take their stand, and reclaim it for God’s purposes. The time to act is now.
Will you answer the call? Let us equip you to take your place as a warring craftsman.
