Children are the heart of our future, the carriers of dreams yet to be fulfilled, and the architects of a better tomorrow. But what happens when this future is under attack? When the very generation that promises hope is being silenced, broken, and destroyed? These are questions we must confront if we are to honor our duty to protect the next generation.
The other day, I caught myself asking, “Why are they doing this to our children?” The thought weighed heavily on me. When children are subjected to torment through abduction, torture, or solitary confinement, the damage is often irreparable. It’s a direct attack on their innocence, their potential, and their ability to lead fruitful lives.
A Wicked Agenda Against Our Youth
There is no denying it—there exists a calculated, sinister agenda to destroy the next generation. Within Kenya and beyond, we’ve seen countless examples of young people targeted, silenced, and broken for standing up to injustice. These brave individuals—the ones who dare to voice their opinions, spotlight corruption, and challenge systemic injustices—are being treated as enemies rather than as citizens.
What exactly did these young men do to deserve such inhumane treatment? They dared to dream of a better future, to stand for what’s right. Using artistry, humor, and creativity, they brought attention to the wrongs around them. They created memes, shared their thoughts on social media, and stood up for those too scared to do so themselves. But instead of engaging them in dialogue, authorities used fear tactics to break their spirits.
Torture, as we know it, doesn’t always leave visible scars. It can take other forms—starvation, extended periods of standing, blindfolds that induce sensory deprivation, and solitary confinement that chips away at one’s mental stability. Victims often experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with flashbacks and nightmares that rob them of peace and trust, leaving them trapped in fear.
When Leadership Fails Its People
Kenya is, by name, a democracy, built on principles of freedom and equality. However, recent actions suggest a troubling shift toward authoritarianism. Those in power have resorted to militant tactics to silence dissent, and it’s our children and young adults who bear the brunt of this repression.
True leadership isn’t about demanding universal praise or crushing criticism. Great leaders take feedback in stride, both positive and negative. They work toward a vision that elevates their people, not themselves. Unfortunately, many current leaders seem more preoccupied with suppressing opposing voices than creating meaningful change.
If you are called to lead—to truly lead—then you must be prepared for the good, the bad, and the ugly that comes with it. Leadership rooted in divine counsel puts the well-being of the people front and center. It does not destroy the youth but empowers them to participate in shaping their nation.
The Cost of Ignoring Their Pain
Imagine being a young adult in Kenya today. You’ve finished your schooling, eager to start building a life. But there are no jobs, no opportunities, and no guidance. You watch as a few profit at the expense of the many, eating “with a big spoon” while you and your peers struggle to get by.
It’s no wonder these youth take to social platforms to share their frustrations. Their posts, their picketing, and their cries for help are simply echoes of the pain felt by many. Yet, instead of addressing their concerns, authorities punish them. These young voices are seen as a threat, rather than a reflection of deeper societal problems.
Do the people orchestrating these abductions not see the irony? Do they not realize they could be harming someone else’s daughter, son, sibling, or friend—someone not so different from their own loved ones?
A Call for Urgent Action
Something has to change. The way things stand, we are watching as the future of our nation is destroyed by fear, greed, and oppression. What we need is bold leadership and bold action to break the cycle. Only through collective efforts will the cries of our youth be heard and answered.

A Message of Hope
The turnaround for Kenya—is within reach. Yes, it’s going to require tough, often unpopular decisions. Like a loving father who disciplines his children for their betterment, our nation must undergo painful but necessary changes.
With God’s guidance and purposeful leadership, there will come a new dawn for Kenya. Leaders must remember that the earth belongs to God, and so does every person within it. By aligning with Truth, we ensure that our actions are for the greater good.
Imagine a Kenya where young people’s voices are valued, their contributions celebrated, and their potential realized. That future isn’t just possible—it’s necessary. And it begins with us.
Together, we can protect our children and build a better tomorrow. Now is the time to act. Share this message, stand up for what’s right, and refuse to silently watch their futures be destroyed.
